Canning Season Mother’s Day
A Mother Is.

I. GOAL: To be the best we can be for Jesus Christ.

II. THEME SCRIPTURES:

Phil.3:14 "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus"

Pil. 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

A MOTHER IS.

A Mother is someone that understands that baking cookies is much more important than washing windows.

A Mother is someone whose lap is always available for tired little travelers.

A Mother often says, "I Love You," but never, "Quit bothering me." She laughs with, not at you. She says "Yes" more often than "No."

A Mother knows how to keep a secret and a promise. She will always listen when you want to talk whether you are three or twenty-three.

A Mother is a link to God- the first impression of God through a child's eyes, come from his Mother's eyes. Later, when she tells him God loves him, the child is able to understand what love is all about.

A Mother transmits the first feelings of love to a child long before he is ever born. Then, as a newborn baby, she holds him close to her, singing softly to him, attending to his physical needs with a quiet, happy spirit, being close when he is frightened or ill - in all of these ways a Mother says, "I love you" long before her child can understand words. A baby does not need to be told he is loved although telling reinforces that feeling.

A Mother who holds tightly to God's hand and tightly to the child's hand at the same time is the channel through which the love of God is first transmitted to the child.

A Mother that spends time in prayer is the greatest asset that any child will ever have. Teaching your child to 'talk to God' is the most important thing you will ever teach them. It won't be significant when they grow older how much weekly allowance you gave them, but it will be important that they remember how to pray.

Mother, you are the hub (center) of the family unit. History proves that a godly mother makes a great difference in any home. You are a special person in a special place. As a Jewish proverb says, "God could not be everywhere, and so he made mothers."

Today and everyday, you are a VIP! Mother, we thank God for you!

THOUGHT!

YOU HAVE COME TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY AS A RESULT OF PAST CHOICES.

WHAT YOU CAN BECOME TOMORROW WILL BE THE RESULT OF TODAY'S CHOICES
